Greek Tragedy
‘Drink Driving’
Prologue: David only had his license a few months. A confident driver, yet arrogant in his assumption that alcohol wouldn’t affect him. He was young, wild, and infallible…or so he thought.
Episode 1: [David arriving at party and drinking]
Chorus [unison] – Careful David, don’t drink too much. How are you going to get home David?
Episode 2: [David is chatting up a girl at the party named Mary]
Chorus [unison] – Love is in the air, or is that bourbon? Who knows?
Episode 3: [David is confronted by a drunk and very jealous ex-boyfriend of Mary’s; they have a fist fight before the host of the party tells David to leave]
Chorus [unison] – Careful David, you aren’t thinking straight, leave the party before it’s too late!
Episode 4: [David and Mary leave the party together and head towards David’s car. They are both very drunk]
Chorus [unison] – Don’t do it David and Mary. Call a taxi!
Episode 5: [David and Mary are fooling around in the car, not concentrating on the road, David swerves. OFFSTAGE – sounds of car breaks, glass smashing and screaming]
Chorus [unison] – We warned them, but they took no heed. Witness NOW the dreadful deed. And hopefully you can take away, the message that we wish to say: IF YOU DRINK AND DRIVE YOU’RE A BLOODY IDIOT!
