Blog about initial impressions about your chosen monologue.

  1. Hey guys!
Well in the play 'Secret Bridesmaids Business' my character is Meg.
My initianl impressions of Meg were all negative. She is sad, angry at James for cheating on her (not happy Michael).
Meg feels like her clock is ticking and she hasn't got much time left and hope is quickly slipping away. And just to avoid that feeling she is concidering taking James back. Looks like Meg won't ever get her fairtale ending.
    :(
    Poor Meg.

  3. For my monlogue I am doing Enchanted April, reading a monologue performed by the character Lotty. She is telling a story to her friend, Rose. She appears to be a very dreamy, in the clouds character, someone who isn't always there when you're talking to her. She is a very deep thinker, rather wistful. Lotty is talking about how her life suddenly became enchanted when she saw an advertisement in the paper, making an example of another "enchantment" when a man who wanted acacias got them from his walking stick. The story is vague, but detailed in a sense, since we do not know what is certain or uncertain in the tale.
I'll do some research on the play and I'll post later in the evening.

  5. Waddup People,

My monologue was Simmons. He is a copper that is explaining to hes new rookie cop that he needs to know everything that has happened so nothing bad happens and people get stuffed round with. Hes a real deep aussie accent type of dude and is pretty cool to act as.

    Ricky.

  7. Hiizzzzz,

My monolouge is spoken by Coleen, a charcter from Secret Bridesmaids' Buisiness by Elizabeth Coleman.
When I first read my monolouge, I couldn't get over how much of a hypocrite she is.
She is also snobby and seems to get jealous REALLY easily, and is all about marriage.

  8. "good morning sunshine, the earth says hello"
lol Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Anyways....My character "Alf" from the play "One day of the year" by Alan Seymour, is a father of a teenaged son. His son has done something to disrespect ANZAC day and his father. My inital impression was that he got drunk with his mates. So as a father i was telling him off, giving him a lecture that ANZAC day is a day of rememberence for those who gave their lives to fight in Gallipoli. I thought that i hate how in todays society ANZAC day is just an excuse just to get drunk either at your friends house or the local pub. I presumed i lost someone possibly a relative in the war and thats why i respected ANZAC day...but i was wrong.
I made it sound this way when i was saying (more like yelling) to the class.
I just googled the play and all that came up was essays so i read them and guess what? it wasn't my son who did something wrong, it was me. My son is very sophisticated and is doing a course in University. He also has got a upper class girlfriend who can "dominate Hughie (my son) by controlling him and influencing many of his opinions." One of them included posting an article in the newspaper about how ANZAC day is now celebrated. Why did they do this you ask, well because i, Alf is a guy who uses ANZAC day as an excuse to "socialize and drink until he doesnt even have the energy to stand up." I eventually see the Newspaper and have a go at Hughie. "You can't see past a few drunks." I was refering to myself, not my son. It is the complete opposite to my intial impression.

  9. Heyy, My character is Maggie from the "Jake's Women".

I think that Maggie has been a 'good catholic girl' all her life and is sick of it. She seems like she covers herself up by acting confident although isn't at all. Her relationship with her husband seems quite good but ordinary, i think maybe she wants more action in her life... She is regretful of being a follower. She has guilt feeling and is trying to justify her actions. At the moment she is just a housewife but is going to do something with her life really soon. She knows what she wants.. She wants to be Miss Indepenant.

    ciao

its phoenix on korzaa's blogger because i forgot my password for my other blogger acount but im making a new one soon so dnt worry kuzz.
imy monologue Jakes Woman by Neil Simon.
the character sounds depressed and upset with his life \fopr what he coul have done with it and he doesnt like his mother much because she is dumb and think roaches come from dirt.
he thinks she isnt smart enough to support him and look after him.
he also sounds lost and cannot find his place in life.
moth iof the time he is complaining about his life and the people in his life about what stupid things they have done lately and how they arnt good enough for him example his mother being stupid.
he is 53 years old and is thinking about the days when he was a young six year old boy when he had nothing to worry about but now he is his own person and has to support himself now.
thats about all i got for ya's lol.
    cya!
