Our last lesson was awesome. I had fun trying to do all the diffrent chracters. Sometimes i just couldnt help maself and had ta laugh! I got Pantalone and Columbina (not sur how to spell names). I reckon Pantalone would be fun, what with his way and everything. The way he always bounces around his many sack is really funny. I can just imagine someone bouncing it up and down in a performance. If i didnt know who he was, id be thing 'what the??' Columbina also seems fun, the way she plays the guys like she does. The thing is, some girls do that today so it makes it that much easier to know what to do. I hope i have fun doing theses roles.
i had fun with our last lesson. How we had to act "slightly" over the top for the different characters in the commedia dell arte.
My charatcers are Pedro and the male lover.
Pedro, also known as Pedrolino is the suck up to his master. He is also turstworthy, honest and hardworking. Pedro would wear something like a white jacket with a neck ruff and large buttons down the front, loose trousers, and a hat with a wide, floppy brim This character doesn't wear a mask, but his face is whitened with white powder. He is also usually the victim of most pranks pulled.
The male lover (usually named Flavio) is hoplessly in love with the female lover ( usually named Isabella). The lovers are rich and are normally the sons and daughters of characters who are high on the social ladder ( someone who is really rich). Since they are rich they would wear the most expensive clothes and jewelery. These lovers never touch, if they do it would cause them to faint or run away. They dont wear masks like other characters, instead they would wear make up.
Michael, which is me, Got the character of Brighella. His a low-life n will do anything for $$$. he is pritty smart cuz he can get 'round any situation his in. "He's a masterful liar, and can make up a spur-of-the moment lie for any situation.", said Wikipedia.
Well wat can I say about about our lessons? They were a lot of fun and I really enjoyed them a lot. I'm really liking all the different characters and everybodys approach to them. I think everybody is doing very very well at making their character comical as well. I got the character Zanni, the lowest of the low. The poorest of the poor and well lets face it he isn't all dat smart either. :P I can't wait for next weeks prac lesson, it shood be a lot of fun!
